QUICK TIPS AND BEST PRACTICES FOR VELOCITY
Here's a few quick reminders based on some common questions we’ve gotten recently:
- If you have a direct drive smart trainer AND a power meter, we generally recommend that you simply connect your smart trainer for both power/cadence as well as resistance control, rather than using your power meter for power/cadence and your trainer for resistance control. This will provide the simplest, smoothest, and most consistent experience. (While you might be tempted to use your power meter indoors so that you can compare indoor vs. outdoor power, indoor and outdoor riding are so fundamentally different that it’s useless to compare numbers anyway.)
- Velocity can automatically sync workout data back to Today’s Plan! To set this up, click the home icon in the top left corner of Velocty, then click your name in the top right corner and click “Connect Apps”. Follow the prompts to connect to Today’s Plan. All future workouts will be auto-synced to Todays Plan as soon as you finish them. (While there is no direct sync to Garmin, you can easily upload workouts manually)
- Practice good “digital hygiene”! Make sure your devices are up to date – this means your trainer’s firmware, as well as Google Chrome or your iPad’s iOS. Also, make sure your bike is not connecting to another Bluetooth device nearby, such as a bike computer or even your phone.
