This is not just funky marketing, instead, it is the framework by which every Purple Patch coach and athlete lives. The Pillars provide a framework to define a way of thinking and decision making for all of us, as well as set a level playing field of focus and importance for each pillar: Endurance Training, Strength, Nutrition and Fueling, and Recovery. Too many coaches and athletes become overly obsessed with the simple accumulation of endurance training hours or miles with the barometer of success measured by hitting more and more training. Critical habits such as post-workout fueling, sleep, and recovery are often relegated to an afterthought, and strength training normally gets skipped from training as races loom. This isn’t the right way to approach your performance, and we believe that all four pillars support performance in both sport and life. By committing to an approach that embraces the value in each area, you are set up for lasting success and evolution.
