The Purple Patch Squad is a comprehensive triathlon training and education program that will help you reach your potential and thrive in life and triathlon. To maximize your Squad experience we encourage you to keep these tips in mind: 1. Decide Which View Choice You will Utilize In Today’s Plan: View One: Displays every prescribed session of the week - you manage your schedule and workout load through scaling options. 12 and over hours of work. View Two: Displays a single daily priority session (plus strength workouts) chosen by your Purple Patch coaching team. Under 12 hours of work. View Two is a wonderful option for time-starved athletes, newer athletes, and those with less experience or fitness. The default view will be set to View One. To Change Your Workout View Option: ON THE DESKTOP: Select the hamburger menu on the top right of your calendar view For “View One” Check “Show Optional Workouts” to show ALL prescribed sessions You will now see all prescribed sessions For “View Two” Uncheck “Show Optional Workouts” to show only Priority Sessions You will now view only the priority sessions of the week (you may need to refresh your screen) You will see a downward arrow on the days in which there is an additional session which you can view by clicking the downward arrow - these are the sessions that are hidden if the “Show Optional Workouts” box is unchecked ON THE MOBILE APP: In the app, select the gear icon on the top right-hand corner For “View One ” Check “Show Optional Workouts” to show ALL prescribed sessions You will now see all prescribed sessions For “View Two” Uncheck “Show Optional Workouts” to show only Priority Sessions You will now view only the priority sessions of the week 2. Plan and customize your week and training. At Purple Patch, we refer to the time you spend on Sundays planning your schedule as the "Sunday Special." This is where you identify the focused sessions of the week and adjust the programming as needed to fit your life. This article will help you adjust your weekly programming and workout length to fit your week more effectively. Scaling my Squad Workouts and Plan 3. If you are racing, remember to add your races to your calendar. It is critical that you enter your planned events into your Today’s Plan calendar. This simple action provides the framework to enable you to follow the right training throughout the year and leading into key events. Without entering your events, you cannot effectively execute the program. Add a race to your calendar 4. Add your race plan at the right time. Once you have entered your key races, we will remind you to apply your Race Build Plan at the right time -- but ensure you do so! You can build into an event choosing a 4, 7 or 10-week plan, that is easy to add to your calendar. Applying a Race Plan to your calendar 5. Understand the mission of your training. Every workout in your program comes with an explanation of the focus of the workout, as well as a video tutorial. An informed athlete is an empowered athlete -- so read the explanation of the workouts and watch the videos so you understand the purpose behind each session you complete. We have put a lot of care and attention into building our bike and run workouts in a structured format so you to pair these workouts with your smart trainer or device. Once you pair the structured workout with your device, you will be able to follow your workouts without juggling apps or pieces of paper, and most importantly, you will be guided through the workout with integrated coaching cues and guidance from Matt Dixon. 7. Tips on how to connect Today’s Plan with your smart devices: Connect Today's Plan to Zwift and easily perform your structured bike workouts in Zwift. Setting Up and Using Zwift. Import your structured bike workouts to TrainerRoad. Setting up and using TrainerRoad Connect Today's Plan to Garmin Connect and easily perform your structured run workouts using your Garmin watch. Add Today's Plan Connections. 8. Maximize your education and support: Utilize your Education Hub The Education Hub is a powerful resource center on all aspects of performance.
