The heartbeat of your Purple Patch coaching program is productive communication. Beyond the training and education, real success is dependent on communication between coach and athlete. This is not simply doing as your coach tells you, as you have an important role to play in making this successful. We seldom see great coaching relationships that only rely on one party initiating communication on an ongoing basis.
Your primary communication: Your primary communication tool resides right within your Today’s Plan Account. We find the optimal method is via the desktop version, but the Today’s Plan app also has communication and feedback ability.
Here is how to find your inbox -- which acts as a wonderful historical email inbox that is synchronized down to the session level
Once in your inbox you can find all of your messages with your coach. Once you add a comment to a session, it will automatically commence a notification and communication thread with your coach. Here are some of the main components of your email messaging that you can expect. Within every session we combine:
- The original prescription
- Data upload of the execution
- Graphs and Analysis tools of the session
- Feedback and Communication with your coach.
Take advantage -- your coach will respond and review your sessions daily if you do your part and upload data AND add comments. It takes two to create the magic, so don’t skip your role.
Conversations: The rhythm and method of communication beyond Today’s Plan is dependent on the expectations you and your coach have set for your partnership. As a One-to-One Coached athlete, you have unlimited access to your coach. We typically begin with the suggested standing conversation on a weekly basis, which can evolve over time. Between conversations, you have the option to email or text questions and required adjustments, with the obvious appreciation that your coach is a human being who is not burdened with being on call with you 24/7.
If there is a preferred communication method for you, then share that with your coach!
You should feel comfortable communicating as much or as little as you need, but please note that more communication means you will be able to address any concerns or questions you may have sooner in your athletic journey. In addition, arrive to your calls prepared. We advise you to spend a few minutes outlining a loose agenda for the conversation (and sharing it in advance with your coach if you wish), so your time can be optimized.
