In Summer 2020, Purple Patch changed the way the TriSquad Baseline looks in order to give Squad athletes a high-level view of our rhythm of training. By paring down the training to one session per day (plus strength and brick runs) it takes out the guesswork of which sessions are most important for training, and it leaves ample room for you to adjust the training load to fit your schedule and availability and focus more on your specific goals.
There are many reasons to add training volume. If you are looking to increase your run endurance, consider adding a session or two of light running to your week. Or, perhaps you are working on your swim and need more touches on the water or to build strength. In these cases, by adding a swim or two, or even swim band sessions, you have the opportunity to safely increase load. It is important to remember that all workouts added are supportive in nature and are not to leave deep fatigue. These supporting sessions are great for adding in light load and working on technique.

Here are some helpful tips to tailor training specific to your needs:
- When adding volume, do so incrementally. Please avoid going from one session per day to two sessions per day all at the same time. Increase your load safely and steadily with only a few supportive sessions at a time.
- Core, self-care, and mobility can be added generously as these do not leave a deep mark.
- When adding additional sessions, aim to keep them supportive, shorter in duration, and as a supplement to your training. Remember, the sessions that will truly move the needle of fitness we have already added to the Baseline. Everything found in the Optional Workout Library (save for the assessments) are supporting sessions and designed to add endurance and technique work.
