In addition to what's noted below, here are some important updates for 2021:
- Thanks to massive construction in "the oval", there are some important changes to the area.
- Transition area is now on the other side of the lake, at Northwoods School.
- Swim: A different course this year with transition on the opposite side of the lake from swim start, but they HAVE moved the iconic cable to align with the new course. Water cups will be available on the beach run between loops.
- Bike: Very similar to before, with slight adjustments near the start/transition. You may also see a bit of nice new pavement further out in the course that has not been used previously. (This may even include a bit of roller-skiing track, pending decisions about whether it would be too technical - RD said this is TBD. If they did it would be a slower no passing zone, single file etc. -- but they are hoping to add it because they think it would be an iconic and unique option)
- Run: Generally similar, but with some important changes. Mentally, this course can now be broken down into 4 roughly equal sections, since that is how many times youll go into and through the Horse Show Grounds (where personal needs bags will be for your 2nd loop). NOTE: You will NOT have to run up the big hill (Mill Hill) twice as in years past. Instead, you only hit it once - but it will be on your SECOND loop, right near mile 26.
