This week I've got two important insights about upcoming opportunities to reset, reach out, and reimagine.
So, let's explore those...
Coming up for air - for a beer or coffee with the Purple Patch team
Most of you are feeling the fatiguing effects of 2020, and we are also keenly aware of how many of you are still struggling for direction and path. We realize that almost everyone is experiencing some level of real uncertainty, and mental health is generally at a reduced level for too many people. We remain here for all Purple Patch athletes, and spent this morning thinking about how to support, as well as provide perspective.
We decided to keep it simple, accessible and agenda free! We are going to host a couple of conversations over drinks this week. Bring your own beer, coffee, tea, bottle of Precision Hydration, or simply a little love and honesty to:
- Thursday 10/1 5.30 pm PST
- Friday 10/2 9 am PST
We are aiming to connect with as many people across time zones as possible!
These sessions are specifically designed to have no specific agenda. Instead, they're an open forum to allow you to hop on and spend an hour with myself, other Purple Patch coaches, and fellow athletes in the Purple Patch community. We will answer questions, provide perspective, share stories, and collectively help focus the lens for our performance journey. It is all anchored in the concept of a Performance Reset.
If you are struggling with consistency or managing training in your current life situation, feeling rudderless, experiencing burnout, or simply looking to connect with our community and meet a few new friendly faces - then hop on and let’s chat. We can share and chart paths forward through sport, work, life or anything that feels like an obstacle.
You are not alone - and we can help each other. I am looking forward spending a little time with you all.
If you are interested in joining, save yourself a seat here for Thursday evening, or here for Friday morning.
Purple Patch Kona Challenge
We march on! I would like to reiterate how excited and happy we were to see so many Purple Patch athletes participate and thrive in our first ‘fall challenge’. An accessible sprint adventure, and we were overwhelmed with the response. This morning we counted over 125 testimonials, follow ups, and adventures and quests recounted on the Facebook group, social media and elsewhere.
If we pause to reflect, I think it is marvelous that we had participants who chose to include friends and family in the fun, embrace a bit of solitude, or even lure athletes outside the Purple Patch ecosystem to join them in the hard efforts.
Well done to you all.
I should note that we had athletes participate across the US, but also in many countries around the world. We can include Mexico, Ecuador, Panama, Laos, Australia (special mention Adelaide!), England, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Japan, Philippines and on, and on and on. Wowdie!
Next up is the Kona Challenge. With the success and ‘ease of use’ of the Purple Patch approach, we are going to double down on how we approached the sprint event for this Kona Challenge. We still encourage you to participate in the official IRONMAN Kona week, but want to evolve this opportunity to be truly inclusive and not set up barriers. We will send all the information and registration information this week, so keep an eye out for that in the coming days.
Cheers,
Matt
